Shiplap Installation Notes
Horizontal or vertical installation
Kebony Shiplap siding can be installed horizontally or vertically over an appropriate drainage wrap or rainscreen assembly.
Stainless steel screws
Shiplap applications require properly selected stainless steel screws with pre-drilled holes. Nails are not recommended for the shiplap system.
Ground clearance
Maintain approximately 12 inches of clearance above grade unless project specifications or local requirements call for more.
Expansion spacing
Installation guidance calls for an approximately 1/8-inch gap between overlapping shiplap boards to accommodate wood movement.

All cladding installations must include properly detailed weather barriers, drainage, ventilation, flashing, openings, transitions, and code-compliant fastening. Project assemblies should be reviewed by the architect, engineer, installer, or local building official.
